How to make a standard solution:
Completely empty the powder into a clean 250ml glass beaker;
Add 250ml of pH Buffer Powder to the beaker;
Still, until the powder has completely dissolved;
Ever so easy to calibrate
Instructions for pH calibrations
pH 6.86:
Power on→ Press the MODEL/CAL button → Adjust to pH mode→ Put the electrode into pH 6.86 standard solution→ Wait for the readings to stabilize(usually 5~10 Seconds) → Press and hold the MODEL/CAL button for 6 seconds → The value of pH 6.86 is no longer flashing, and the calibration of pH 6.86 is completed.
pH 4.00:
Power on → Press the MODEL/CAL button → Adjust to pH mode → Put the electrode into pH 4.00 standard solution → Wait for the readings to stabilize(usually 5~10 Seconds) →Press and hold the MODEL/CAL button for 6 seconds → The value of pH 4.00 is no longer flashing, and the calibration of pH 4.00 is completed.
pH 9.18:
Power on → Press the MODEL/CAL button → Adjust to pH mode → Put the electrode into pH 9.18 standard solution → Wait for the readings to stabilize(usually 5~10 Seconds) → Press and hold the MODEL/CAL button for 6 seconds → The value of pH 9.18 is no longer flashing, and the calibration of pH 9.18 is completed.

A lot of mixed reviews on these type of devices. Especially the ones that claim to measure 3 in 1 or 5 in 1 etc. I wanted one that not only measures pH but also salt ppm. This one also measures ORP which is actually the best indicator to see how clean your water is. Since I have a saltwater pool with a chlorinator I wanted to know what my pH and saltwater ppm is. When I opened the package of the device I found a instruction manual (very handy) and 3 packets of pH mixtures to calibrate the device. I followed the instructions and tested the accuracy before calibration. The unit was spot on and calibration was not necessary. In order to test salinity an EC calibration has to be done with test liquid 1.413. This wasn’t in the box but you can buy it at many pool and hydroponic shops. The device EC calibration was a bit out when tested and to re-calibrate it I had to search for a youtube video. Long press the UP button, once flashing select UP or DOWN to adjust, the wait 3 seconds. After that the unit was calibrated and spot on. As I suspected with my pool the salt ppm was too low at 2400 ppm instead of 3500 ppm. Final virdict: pH works out the box but you will need to buy the EC 1.413 solution to make sure you are getting accurate results. For this price the options and results is a no brainer and is well worth it. Similar devices cost well over R8000.
