Description
Recommended as an important baseline for water quality testing for rainwater collected in a catchment or other harvesting system.
The Essential Rain Water package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a water sample for laboratory testing. This is an ideal baseline test for any home or building served by a spring. Analysis includes common concerns such as metals, minerals, nitrates, general chemistry, and coliform and E. coli bacteria.
While rainwater often begins very clean, it may pick up an array of metals, minerals, and bacteria as it collects and transports through a rainwater collection system. If safely configured, rainwater harvesting can provide high-quality water for drinking, livestock, and irrigation. Testing harvested rainwater is always advised to ensure safety and can help you make informed decisions regarding additional treatment (if needed).
The Essential Rain Water Test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a rainwater sample for laboratory testing. The results will include a detailed analysis of common water health concerns related to natural water chemistry and common catchment system plumbing materials.
The results will include a detailed analysis of common artesian spring water health concerns related to natural water chemistry and on-premise plumbing. Testing is specialized to address contaminants such as heavy metals, minerals, bacteria, and hardness, –as well as issues related to plumbing
This is the right test if you:
-
- Collect rainwater in a catchment or other harvesting system.
- Water that tastes metallic, bitter, or musty.
- The water smells musty, moldy, or mildew-like.
- You see biofilm buildup or other microbial growths in the harvesting system.
- Have young children or other vulnerable individuals in your home.
- Mainly concerned about metals and other inorganics.

How it works
What’s inside your testing kit?
Sample Collection Bottles
Your kit includes all the bottles, tubes or vials necessary to collect your water sample. For most kits, however, there is only one collection bottle needed.
Sample Information Card
Your kit includes a postcard/leaflet that asks for a few details about how and where you collected your sample (i.e. kitchen faucet). Just fill it out, drop it in the return box, and we’ll do the rest.
Shipping
Shipping is always on us. When your sample is ready for collection, let us know and we will send a courier to collect.
Return Container (If Applicable)
Some of our tests require your water sample to be cold when it reaches our labs. If this applies to your test, the proper refrigeration items will be included.
