Description

The beauty industry teaches us to invest in expensive serums and cleansers, yet many of us wash our faces with “aggressive” water that strips the skin’s natural barrier. The “Skincare & Derm-Care” Profile is a specialized diagnostic audit for The “Skincare & Derm-Care” Profile (including bathroom mains, shower feeds, and luxury spa water).

The “Skin Irritation Index”, our killer feature: We provide a Skin Irritation Index. We don’t just list minerals; we compare your water’s Hardness, pH, and Total Chlorine against dermatological standards. This tells you definitively if your water is causing “hard water acne,” eczema flare-ups, or premature aging by disrupting your skin’s delicate acid mantle.

What’s tested

The “Derm-Safety” Suite (Physical)

  • pH: Measures if your water is too alkaline, which can strip natural oils and lead to dryness and sensitivity.

  • Total Hardness: Measures Calcium and Magnesium—the primary culprits behind “clogged pores” and hair dullness.

  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) & EC: Indicates the total mineral load that can leave irritating residues on the skin.

  • ORP & Salinity: Measures the oxidative stress and salt levels that can dehydrate the dermis.

The “Irritant” Suite (Chemical)

  • Sanitization Markers: Free & Total Chlorine and Bromine. High chlorine acts like a harsh bleach on the skin and hair, leading to irritation and “swimmer’s hair” texture.

  • Heavy Metal Screen: Aluminium, Chromium, Copper, Lead, Manganese, Mercury, and Zinc. (Metals like Copper can even cause green tints in blonde hair).

  • Nutrients & Impurities: Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, Phosphate, Potassium, Sulfate, and Fluoride.

  • Buffering Chemistry: Total Alkalinity, Carbonate Root, and Cyanuric Acid.

Biological (The “Microbiome” Guard)

  • Total Coliform & E. coli: Qualitative analysis (48-hr incubation). Ensures your water is free from bacteria that can infect open pores or worsen inflammatory skin conditions.

Is this the right test for you?

This profile is essential if you:

  • Experience Chronic Dryness: Your skin feels “tight” or itchy immediately after showering.

  • Manage Sensitive Conditions: You or your children struggle with eczema, rosacea, or psoriasis.

  • Notice Hair Issues: Your hair feels brittle, lacks shine, or your expensive colour treatments are fading or changing hue rapidly.

  • Have Invested in Skincare: You spend significantly on skincare products but aren’t seeing results (hard water can prevent products from lathering or absorbing).

  • Are you using alternative water: You are using The “Skincare & Derm-Care” Profile (such as a borehole or wellpoint) for your home and want to ensure it isn’t too “harsh” for daily hygiene.

How it works

How it Works – What’s needed from you?

1. Prepare Your Sample Collect 1L of the water sample in a sterile container.

  • The “Shower-Head” Rule: Collect the sample from the tap or showerhead you use most for washing your face.

  • Safety: Do not rinse the bottle. Avoid touching the inside of the cap to ensure the biological results are strictly from your water supply.

2. Complete the Sample Information Card Include the following data for our dermatological analysis:

  • Contact Info: Name, phone number, and email.

  • Collection Data: Date and time of collection.

  • Water Source: Specify (e.g., “Primary Bathroom Shower,” “Kitchen Tap,” or “Borehole Feed”).

  • Skin Concerns: Note if you are experiencing dryness, breakouts, or hair breakage.

.

3. Shipping & Logistics

  • Courier Service: Notify us once the sample is secured; we will dispatch a courier for collection (unless prepaid).

  • The “Cold Chain”:  To ensure an accurate “Irritation Index” data, maintain a temperature of 2°C to 8°C during transit (please use refrigeration items (e.g., frozen gel packs)). Many chemicals and biological markers (like Ammonia and Bacteria) are temperature-sensitive.
